Hello, I’m Susanna Alwen, The Hands-On Vet. I live on a small-holding just outside Haslemere with my rescue dogs.
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon from Cambridge University Veterinary School in 2002 and over the following 10 years I worked in different types of veterinary practice including farm animal, equine, small animal, emergency and the veterinary pharmaceutical industry to gain a breadth of experience. In 2012 I decided to dedicate my career to rehabilitation and pain management and pursued further training in acupuncture, rehabilitation and hydrotherapy in dogs and cats.
My approach uses a combination of therapies; bringing conventional veterinary treatments and pharmaceuticals together with complementary therapies such as acupuncture and physical rehabilitation techniques, tailored to the individual animal, to get the best possible outcome.
My qualifications:
MA, VetMB, MRCVS
GP Cert Western Veterinary Acupuncture and Chronic Pain Management
Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist
Diploma in Hydrotherapy for Small Animals
